7 am at the Delp House

Ever wonder what 7 am at the Delp house was like? Well, you have your answer:

A Day in the Life

We can't really say that there is a normal day in the life of the Delps. Seems like every day at this point comes with a new surprise. You'd think we'd be used to that by now almost 3 years into parenthood, but we are amazed at what comes next.

Sam continues to love to make cookies and muffins with mommy. His favorite activity of the process is licking the spoon after they are complete. On this particular occasion, Sam decided to take it easy while he waiting for the muffins and he licked the spoon. Let's say Sam has an abnormal attention span:

Sam has always loved playing peek-a-boo. Since he was 6 months old, this was his favorite game. For any of you that have had the privilege of watching Sam, you know his love for the sport. Well, he has taken the "where's sam" game to a new level this week with wearing daddy's hat around the house:

Maya is almost one year old, which crazy enough by itself. But our little girl is a little crazy we think (a good crazy of course). Her personality and spunk are a fun addition to the Delp clan. She is in the middle of her phase of getting into almost everything that she possibly can around the house, and it is often that we find Maya somewhere suspect, like in the pantry sorting through our recycling. This is the face that we usually find on her when we discover where she is playing:

Maya has begun to take an interest in books around the house. She enjoys paging through them and act like she is reading. Here is a picture of her reading The Cat in the Hat:

Sam has started to memorize book in a way that he can recite the entire book back to us, or in this case, to Maya. It comes across as Sam is reading to Maya, which is amazingly cute. For all of the time that Sam get's frustrated with Maya trying to play with his trains, there are 10 times of Sam caring for his little sister and treating her with an amazing amount of love. Here is Sam reading the Wheels on the Bus to Maya.

Jumping Joe's

We are trying to make up for our lack of Maya video posts over the last few months (and well, maybe I enjoy playing with my new phone also). Here is Maya enjoying herself at a place called Jumping Joe's. We went with some friends from church/neighborhood on cold rainy day. It was a lot of fun. Enjoy. We promise to get of Maya walking as soon as she decides to do it!

Maya Update

Here is a long over due update of Maya. There will be more now that we got our video camera problems solved.

Maya loves the magna doodle that Sam got for Christmas. It drives Sam nuts that she does not use the pen right. Something tells me that is going to be a huge part of their relationship. Here is the video:

Christmas #2

The Tuesday before Christmas, we embarked on yet another 12-13 hour car ride to PA. With only one vomit, we made it to PA! What ensued was just a little short of chaos, but certainly a lot of fun. Sam, Symeon, Maya, and Marin had a wonderful time together and enjoyed their Mom-Mom, Grandpa Ed, and Pop-Pop thoroughly. We did diagnose Sam with a case of too much Christmas after his third consecutive day of opening presents.

Here are some pictures of our time in PA:

Sam and Symeon are proud of the gift that they gave to Mom Mom for Christmas. Either that, or just like looking at themselves in the pictures.

Maya loves trying on almost any fabric that could be considered close to clothing. Here is her attempt at putting on an outfit she got for Christmas.

Sam quickly learned the art of opening presents and was went straight to the tape. He was also more than willing to help Maya open her presents.

Just a small glimpse of the Christmas chaos! It was fun, but a whirlwind for sure.

The was some snow when we first arrived in PA, left over from the previous weekend's blizzard. Sam and Symeon loved playing with Mom Mom in the snow. We don't know who enjoyed it the most though, it was probably Mom Mom.

Thanks to Mom Mom and Grandpa Ed, Sam and Symeon were properly outfitted in Philadelphia sporting attire for the upcoming seasons.

Pop-Pop with his grand daughter at his house.

A nice relaxing meal time with the four cousins. The only thing missing was candlelight.

Maya Update

Maya has been growing so fast right before our eyes. She has been such a joy to have and she makes our family seem so much more complete. It is so fun to watch her and Sam interact. Maya usually wakes up before Sam and lately Maya has been walking into Sam's room (with help of course). When she comes around the corner, they both light up and let out a great scream of joy to see each other.

Maya loves to text. Every time she gets her hands on a phone, she immediately assumes the texting position with her thumbs. It is quite fun to watch, and well, just a little concerning for her future!

Maya is getting really close to walking. She stands on her own for quite some time, but is still reluctant to takes steps on her own. Sam is insistent that I help him "learn" how to walk also. I told him that his job is to help Maya jump, so we'll see how that goes!

Also, you may want to note Maya's outfit in these two pictures. She is sporting the newest and finest attire from Beyonce's fashion line. Thanks to Auntie Shelva, Maya is the queen of fashion in South Atlanta!

Christmas #1

My parents came to Atlanta the week before Christmas to celebrate a little early and give us a little childcare help during our last few crazy days at work.  This Christmas Sam definitely understood what was going on, and he was more than willing to help all of us open our presents.

toys, toys, toys!

No Room in the Inn (or Manger)

This Christmas season Sam was obsessed with Nativity scenes.  He played and played with his through the holiday and announced, "Manger" anytime he saw one during the holidays.  Sam was also very insistent that all of his toys "needed to see Baby Jesus", therefore, the manger was crowded this season.  Hopefully his joy to show Jesus to others will continue throughout his life.

Better Late Than Never

After a good, but hectic holiday season I am finally sitting down to update the blog (and to end the pestering of grandparents:))  Even though its a bit late, here are our Thanksgiving pics.  We rented a cabin for a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with Shawn, Shelva and kids.  It was a great time for the cousins to play together and for the adults to relax (as much as one can relax with four children under the age of 2 1/2).

Tub time was a little wild

Sam and Symeon loved playing together

This weekend was the first time Maya and Marin were old enough to play together.  Looks like trouble to me!

Our cabin was on the New River, so we spent a lot of time outside.  Our last evening there, we made a campfire and s'mores.

Maya was ready for the cold!
