Socks and Sandals?

A debate has raged in the Delp household for several years now: Are socks and sandals acceptable to wear together in public. As we begin to parent our child, some people in our house are worried that we may be teaching our son bad fashion sense. We would like your help in settling our debate by voting in the poll to the right -->

Below are some pics of both Daddy and Sam wearing socks and sandals. Here are our arguments:

Jeff- "As long as you are comfortable, socks and sandals are acceptable. It doesn't matter what society says is an acceptable form of fashion. It only matters what is comfortable. Therefore, if you are comfortable, go ahead and wear it. Sometimes, you like to have the comfort and freedom of a sandal, but need the warmth of a sock. What a perfect combo!"

Katie - "Woe is me! I now live in a household of men with no regard to good fashion sense. I'm pretty sure I don't have to convince too many folks that socks and sandals are not a good combination. The only time they are an acceptable option is a quick trip to the mail box when you can't find your shoes and don't want your socks to get wet."

Sam Update

It has been a while since we posted a video update of Sam. He has really started walking a lot more this week. Walking is now his primary mode of getting around. He still needs to learn to walk without his hands help up so high. In this video Sam also shows his love for any size ball, his ability to say ball, his desire to watch the English Premier League on Saturday mornings instead of cartoons, and his "Mooing." Enjoy!

Sam Update

We realized that it had been a while since we last sent an update of Sam. Sorry for the delay. We have really enjoyed Sam the last few weeks. It is fun seeing him learn more and more about his world and explore it. The big news of the last few weeks is that we got a zoo pass for the year, so Sam can go see all of his favorite animals (so far it seems like the orangutans are his favorite).

Here are some pictures of Sam from the past few weeks:

Family Visits

We have been blessed to be around family a lot this past few weeks. The most wonderful part of that has been seeing that Sam remembers his Aunt & Uncle and his Grammy and Grandpa from just a few short weeks ago. It is quite amazing the memory that kids have. His Aunt Shelva played an amazingly fun game of hiding a chicken in the sandbox last Sunday. Sam loved it. When we got in the sandbox yesterday, the first thing Sam started to do was to hide the chicken and go and find it. It blew me away. Here are some pics of our visits, and more on shutterfly:

Sam finding the chicken hidden under the sand. Oh the joy!

Aunt Shelva and Uncle Shawn are going to get a reputation for the giving great hats. Here is another one that I am sure will be a big hit this summer.

Here we are on a train in a playground in Arkansas City, KS. This playground has a lot of memories for Katie as a child, so it was cool to have Sam there to enjoy it. Sam has added two more states to his ever increasing total (Kansas and Oklahoma).

First Hair Cut

Sam has had quite a bit of hair ever since the beginning, but recently it was getting a bit out of hand. He had grown a mullet and with his teeth coming in in random order, he was looking a bit more Georgian than we would have liked. Yet, I still couldn't bring myself to cut his hair - he just seemed too little for a haircut. An older neighbor friend told me I absolutely could not cut Sam's hair before his first birthday or he would stutter for life. While I didn't buy her theory, I did wait until after Sam's birthday. Saturday morning was Sam's first hair cut. Here are the before and after shots. Cosmetology will definitely not be a second career for me since I didn't do a very good job. Sam looks very grown up with his new do!

One Year Old Today!

Today is Sam's birthday. After a party in PA, a party with Jaeyln, and receiving most of his gifts already, the day seemed a little anti-climatic to us parents. But, we did have a fun day with Sam. Here are a few pictures of him, including one of him trying Rita's Italian Water Ice.
